We regret to .have to record the death of Mis Ormond, the wife of Dr. Ormond, of Wairoa. The sad intelligence was brought to town to-daj r by the Rev. Mr. Morice. We would draw the attention of all interested in the formation of a Naval Brigade for Port Ahuriri, to the meeting to he held at ihe Commercial Hotel at 8 o'clock this evening. We published yesterday an ox tract from the Sydney correspondence of a contemporary, relating to the destitute condition of the widow of the late Mr Plunkefct. We have received a letter on the subject, which we must hold over till to-morrow, Resident Magistrate's Court.—■ This morning, before H. B. Sealy, Esq., R.M, Joseph Butler was brought up by Mr Scully, who desired that the Court should order him to maintain his threechildren. He had been living apart from his wife for a number of years, leaving her to support the children, and she had been for some time in receipt of charitable aid. Mr Lee, who appeared for the defendant, subjected Mrs Butler to a rigid examination, submitting to the Court that only one of the children was the defendant's, and diat he was quite ready and willing to support this one —Case adjourned for further evidence. Northe v. Days.. Disputed claim of X'o 6s lor wages. —Judgment for ,£4 17s and II 4s costs. Rose v. Harris. —A claim for the value of a mattrass. The parties, who are brothers, had had a difficulty about money matters, and defendant had sued plaintiff in the Court of Petty Sessions, which appeared to ha~\e given rise to this claim. —Case dismissed. On the certificate of two medical gentlemen, the lunatic mentioned in our last was taken in charge by the proper authorities.
