Monday, May 1. Amidst threats from the Hanhaus, the Government seem determined to extend the telegraph from here to Katikati. Mr Floyd, with his staff, is engaged in laving out the line. All the material has now arrived.
A clergyman is believed to have prompted the natives to extortion, 1 hei eby injuring the carrying out of public works.
