The English Mail via Suez came to hand to-day, per Lord Ashley. - Renata—formerly Te Kooti's executioner—who has been for some time a prisoner at Wairoa, was brought to Napier by the schooner Hero last night "We have to thank Mr Pringle, pur ser of the Lord Ashley, for the prompt delivery of our Southern files. The Governor returned to Wellington from his Middle Island cruise in the Luna on Saturday last. Julius Yogel Postmaster General of New Zealand, and W. H. Webb, Esq., and Ben Holladay, of New York, the Contractors. A General Order in this morning's Herald, signed by Major Withers, calls out the whole of the Militia and Volunteers resident in Napier to do honor to the memory of the late Capt. St. George by following his remains to the grave. As all hands in the Times office will thus be taken from their work for some hours during the busiest portion of the day, there will be no issue of this paper to-morrow. Under the circumstances, our subscribers will excuse us. We have to acknowledge the receipt of the first number of the Nelson Ex aminer—the oldest newspaper in the Colony—in its new form as a weekly. It is now a demy folio, of 12 page*, and is as well and neatly got up as ever. We cannot look upon this last change as indicating a prosperous state of business in Nelson. Our contemporary promises to introduce material improvements in future issues.
