Hawke's Bay Times. Nullius addictus jurare in verba magistri. TUESDAY, APRIL 25, 1871.

We learn that the Rifle Volunteer Band purpose giving another series of their popular open-air concerts, commencing on an early date. Fine Weather would appear to have again set in. The weather report for to-day denotes " blue sky " throughout all places in New Zealand south of Napier. The English Mail via Suez will arrive here by the Lord Ashley to-morrow morning; that via San Francisco may be looked for by the Star of the South —probably also to morrow or the next .day.

A "Volunteer Parade took place this morning at 6.30 o'clock. The attendance was not large. Notice was given of a series of six parades for recruits, to be held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, at the barracks, at 7.30 p.m., commencing to morrovy (evening. Divine Services. —We have been Requested to announce that the Rev. R. Taylor will preach next Sunday at Waipukuran, Waipawa, and Kaikora, at the usual hours; the Wednesday following, at Mr Harwood's, Kuataniwha; g,nd on Thursday evening, at 6 o'clock, £jt Hampden^

Hope of Fa bier Tent, T.O 8.-A meeting takes place in the Tent room this evening, at the usual hour. Resident Magistrate's Court.— This morning, before H. B. Sealy, Esq., 8.M., there were only a few unimportant civil cases. Meehan v. Clarkson. —A claim of £2 6s 2d. No appearance of defendant.—Judgment for amount claimed and 9s costs. Topping v. Hebberley.—A claim of .£3 8s 7d, a portion of which defendant disputed.—Judgment for j£3 7s 2. Manoy v. Marsh.— Claim, <£B 3s 7d , judgment summons. Plaintiff applied that defendant might be committed to prison, as he believed he had no intention of paying his debt. —The case was settled by defendant engaging to pay ,£2 and 9s costs at once, and the remainder in monthly instalments of ,£2.
