Taupo Road Works. —The time for sending in tenders for the above has been extended to the 2nd May. Postal.—The name of the Po?t Office in the Province of Wellington known as << Rangitikei" has been to " Middle Ran Jtikei."

The Napier, it will be obnerved, is advertised to steam for Poverty Bay at 4 p.m. on Monday next. The total balance for the Colony at the credit of depositors in the Government Savings J3ank on the 31st December last, including interest up to the 31st December, 1869, was £287,113 3s 3d.

Mr Yooel.—The Auckland correspondent of the Herald writes thus dolefully in his last published communication : —" Is it not /too bad that Mr Vogel, whilst using his magnificent talents for the benefit of the Colony, should Jose his shares in the Caledonian because some friend could not be found to pay up for him a few paltry pounds due on calls 1 " —The statements of this writer are generally taken cum grano salts in Napier; but; if the above is true it says little indeed for Mr Vogel's business ability. A man who, on leaving the Colony, neglects so obvious a precaution as to appoint an agent to attend to such little matters as the one in question, is certainly not fit to be entrusted with the business of the Colony, and we think, deserves little sympathy for private losses so incurred.
