Friday, April 14. The Meat Preserving Company are progressing favorably with their works. The Barbottine, from Iloilo, brings 18,000 packages sugars. The Homebush Cup was won by Spy, who accomplished the distance of two miles in 3 minutes 35 seconds, the shortest time in which it has yet been done in the Colonies. Four arrivals on Wednesday brought 1,035 tons of sugar. The market is quiet. Prices have been reduced J£l per ton all round. TI.M.S. Blanche proceeds immediately on a cruise to the South Seas. At a meeting held at Greville & Co.'s Rooms, a resolution was passed in iavoi of urging upon the Imperial Government the desirability of annexing Fiji Wool is firm, and was in brisk competition at recent sales. Sales of Adelaide wheat have taken place at from 6s to 6s 3d. The Customs Bill has finally passed the Assembly. The Naval and Military Defences Bill has passed its second reading. Returns of last quarters revenue show an increase of <£ 18,000.
