The Auckland Evening Star's correspondent, who writes under date March, 30, supplies the following : .. The Caledonian if really better than, ever The reef is increasing in size, and the gold visible throughout Shares have been bought up readily at i-100. There will be no difficulty in lodging from 12,000 to 13,000 ozs. by Saturday night, and I expect the dividend to be the same as last. The new reef in the Manukau is looking splendid, and over live ounces, to the ton is expected. It is believed that the reef will be found in the (pure ground, and shares have been enquired for. Several parcels have sold at 8s to, 10s. The find in the Star of the South is. not so good as was reported. The specimen taken out is about 51bs. weight —not very rich. The new manager in the Alburnia is turning out very good stone, some nice specimens being met with occasionally. The crushing looks well for a good re« turn. The Ballarat and Rising Sun is. looking splendid, and a handsome return, is certain. Tr e Inverness crushing is still going on, and looks well for two ounces to. the ton. The Nonpareil have had a good crushing. Ketorting will commence on Friday. We take the following from telegrams in the Southern Cross : March 30, 8.35 p.m. The crushing of lOOlbs of Nonpareil specimens yielded 80 ozs. of gold. The new Manukau reef promises 3 to 4 ounces to the ton. The cleaning-up after the crushing of 3cwt. of specimens from the Long Drive will take place to-morrow, and is expected to yield 700 ozs. of gold. Very rich stone was taken out of the All Nations mine to day. March 31, 10.53 a m. 10,006 ozs of gold from the Caledonian has been banked, Cannot teU how much more. The mine is dry and everything in w r orking order. 8 55 p.m. The Nonpareil crushing yielded 909| ozs. of melted gold. A dividend of 7s per scrip has been dsclared. The crushing for the Kurunui tribu-. ters yielded 67 ozs of gold. 772 ozs. of gold is the amount of the. month's return of the Long Drive Goldmining Company. The Caledonian banked 2,512 ozs. 4 dwts. of gold to-day. Total amount; now on hand is 11,042 ozs. 14 dwts. of melted gold, and 662| of retorted.
