Taranaki-—To day (Friday) h the 30th anniversary of the Province of Taranaki. The Outy/ard Mails for Europe, America, &c, for despatch per s.s Lord Ashley, at the Chief Post Office, Napier at 11 o'clock a.in. tomorrow. Besident Magistrate's Court.— A man named Campbell, evidently suffering from the effects of drink, was brought before the Comt this murning, and remanded for a week. A Rifle Match was arranged yesterday between ten of the Napier Rifle C.ub and ten of the Southern competitors, which came off this morning. The da) was unfavorable, a high wind pre\ ailing th« whole time, which materially affected the shooting. The local Club were under the disadvantage of having four of their best members absent, and out of the ten cho.sen one was unable to be present at the match. In counting up, therefore, the Club average (2d) was allowed for his score As wiil be seen by the. annexed *core, the Southerner* were the victors by S2 points. The average were—Southei ners, 33J; Bine Ciub/:25J. The following is the score : SOUTHERN REPRESENTEES.
