TIMARU.
Thursday, March 30. The Governor arrived yesterday afternoon. He was met by the Magistrate and escorted through the town to the residence of Judge Ward (whose guest he is) by a mounted guard of the Volunteers. He was publicly received this morning at a triumphal arch at the north end of the the town, by the Mayor and Corporation, Freemasons, Cddtellows, Foresters, and a very large crowd. The Volunteers fired a salute of 17 guns, and the Corporation presented an address, to which the Governor replied A procession was then formed, headed by the Band, the Volunteers, and the filendlysocieties, which marched through the town to the Oddfellows' Hall, Where the Governor held a levee which was largely attended He afterwards inspected the volunteers, and complimented them on their appearance and apparent discipline. He also inspected the hospital and other public buildings. A cold collation was laid at 2 o'clock, but the attendance was j-mall. A ball in honor of the Governor's \isit was to be given this evening.
