The schooner Golden Isle, Matzen, master, from Auckland via Kennedy's Bay, arrived in the roadstead about 9 o'clock last night, and entered the iron Pot at 8 o'clock this morning. She left Kennedy's Bay on Tuesday last, and experienced northerly wind throughout. Off White Island, on Wednesday, sighted two steamers, bound north, supposed to be the Star of the South and the .Napier. The 8.3. Rangatira, Capt. Renner, left Wellington for this port at 12.35 p.m. to-day. The p.s. luna, Capt. Fairchild, arrived at Tauranga, from Auckland, at 9.45 p.m. yesterday. This afternoon, about 1 o'clock, in consesequence ©f the then prevailing N.E. wind, and a high sea rolling into the Bay, the coal laden schooner Amherst, riding at the western anchorage, slipped her cable, and proceeded to beat out of the Bay, which was accomplished after a time with some difficulty, the vessel laboring very heavily. During the course of the afternoon the wind worked round to S.W. The Amherst was still in eight from the port at the time we went to press.
