Napier Musical Society. —We would remind the public of the treat in store for all who pay a visit, to the Oddfellows' Hall this evening, the performance to commence at 8 o'clock. The Volunteer Artillery Band. —Last evening we mentioned lhat the above band intended giving an openair performance this (Wednesday) evening, on the green opposite the Herald office. To prevent interference, however, with the Napier Musical Society's concert this evening, the band performance has been wisely put off until Friday evening. Outward Mails yu San Fran Cisco. —We are informed by the Chief Postmaster that the next Outward mails via San Francisco will close as usual in Auckland on the 7th proximo, and at Wellington on the 3rd. The public will, theiefore, be yble to take advantage of any opportunity of sending by steamers leaving for these ports in time for die above date. Resident Magistrate's Court, — This morning, before K. Stuart, Esq., J P., and J. A. Smith, Esq., J.P., William Connor, bullock-driver, was lined 5s for dLunkenness ; 10s for wilfully remaining at such a distance from his vehicle as not to have it under his control ; 10s tor using obscene language while being conveyed to the lock up in a cab; 2« 6d cab hire, and 6s other costs. Eighteen cased of breach of the Militia Act (as reported elsewhere) then came before the Court, after which a man named John Kennedy was charged by John Hawkins, feiryman, with attempting to steal his boat.
