Thursday, March 16. Mr. Strode has refused to proceed in Mr Lemon's case, on the ground that it will not stand a preliminary hearing. Mr Glsbome has accepted Brunton's offer of reconnaisance for the x survey ot the railway between Mataura and Balclutha.
Major Richardson has been thrown from his carriage, and has received a severe scalp wound.
The work has been commenced on the Clutha railway. The Governor turns the first sod on Saturday, and leaves town on Monday.
