WELLINGTON.
Thursday, March 16. At the patent slip meeting yesterday Sir Charles Clifford's explanation on the pari of Kennard's gave great satisfaction. A committee was appointed, and there is no doubt that the slip will go on.
Lieut.-Col. Moule telegraphs from Maketu yesterday that he haa not been informed of any violent stoppage of the Tauranga mail, and does not believe the newspaper report. He considers the state of the weather sufficient to account for the non-receipt of the mails. Commissioner Clarke agrees with him. The Provincial Council last night unanimously passed a resolution for selling land on deferred payments.
