Ross, master, left Napier on Sunday morning, with light N,E. wind, and arrived at Waimarama at 5 p.m. on Monday, too late to commence discharging cargo. Owing to heavy and increasing swell rolling in, with thick weather, weighed anchor at 5 o'clock on Tuesday morning, and shaped her course for Napier. Came round Cape Kidnapper at 3 o'clock this morning, with strong N.E. wind and heavy sea, accompanied with torrents of rain ; and arrived in the Iron Pot at 8 o'clock. She will return to Waimarama as soon as the weather permits. The ketch Mary Ann Hudson, for Wairoa, will sail as soon as the weather permits. The s.s. Lord Ashley, hence, arrived at Wellington at 10.30 this morning. The following, picked up in a bottle at Mercury Bay, has been handed to the Thames Advertiser for publication :—• " Ship Adelia Carleton, of Boston, Capt. Carleton, bound to San Erancisco, from Sydney, five days out, 34deg. 48m. S., 164 deg. 14m. E.; all well. Mr Montgomery flying a kite; goosa and fowl for dinner ; wife recovered her sickness ; things looking awfully jolly j did not practio j the piano this morning; think of it presently.
