Hawkes Bay Times. Nullius addictus jurare in verba magistri. TUESDAY, MARCH 14, 1871.

Rechabitism. -- We are informed that the Lord Ashley has brought the dispensation from the District and the necessary regalia for the opening of a new Tent of the LO.R. at Waipawa — the second in this Province. We under/stand that the new Tent will be opened without delay.

Provincial Elections. —It will be seen from our Wairoa letter that J. G. Kinross, Esq, has been returned unopposed for that district. ... The polling for Hampden was to take place today, while that for Pefane is fixed for to-morrow. Waimarama, then, will be the only district remaining, the polling for which will take place this day week.

Resident Magistrate's Coujit.— This morning one civil case, Hebberley v. O'Malley, was heard. Decision reserved till this afternoon. John Sim, of Mohaka, was charged with a breach of the Licensing Act, in having sold a single bottle of brandv without a licence. The offence was proved, and judgment deferred till this afternoon. Our report is held over.

Owing to February being a short month, the Wonga Wonga, from Honolulu, with the European and American mails via San Fiancisco, would not be due at Auckland until the 15th instant (to-morrow.) . . . The mails via Suez will be due at Melbourne on the 16th inst, and it is quite probable that the steamer which is supposed to leave for New Zealand on the 15th may be detained in order to bring the mail on, as was the case last month. . . . The outwaid mails for Europe, &c, via Suez and Brindisi, were despatched hence this morning by the Lord Ashley, for the South.
