The b.B. Star of the South, Cupt. Holmes, left Auckland at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 22nd inst, with the wind fresh from NE. When nearly off Cape Colville the wind increased to a gale, attended with heavy rain. In consequence, put back, and arrived in Auckland harbor at 11 p.m. on Thursday. At 3 a.m. on Friday,—the wind th r n being liuht N.E , and still raining, with thick weather, —got under weigh, and proceeded as far as Bangitoto, where she anchored for the night. At 5.30 on Saturday morning, resumed her voyage—wind northerly, with heavy sea and rain. Passed Cape Colville at 10.30 a.m.; rounded Cape Runaway at 10 a.m. cm Sunday, ai>4 the East Cape at 3 p.m. the same day. Had fine weather from the East Cape to Poverty Bay, where she arrived at 5 a.m. on Monday. Landed cargo and the following passengers : His Honor T. B. Gillie?, Major Westrupp, and Mr Johnston. Left Poverty Bay at noon the same day; passed Portland Island at 6.30 last night, and arrived in Ahuriri roadstead at 1 o'clock this morning, entering the Iron Pot at noon. From Poverty Bay to port experienced fresh S. and S.E. winds with thick weather and rain.—The Star brings a full general cargo and a number of passengers. The brigantine Flirt, Capt. M'Kenz'e, from Lyttelton, bound to Auckland, arrived in the roadstead this forenoon ; landed Mr Boss, exProvincial Engineer; and resumed her pas page during the course of the day. The Flirt has experienced very heavy weather since leaving Lyttelton on the 18th inst., and was hove* to for five daye, The weather still continues inclement — southerly winds with heavy rain having prevailed since our last. In ponaequence, the departure of several vessels has been postponed. The Eangatira is advertised to leave lor Wellington tomorrow, about noon ; and jth.e Napier and Murewai, for Poverty Bay, also the Hero, for Wairoa, will leave as soon as the weather permits.
