AUCKLAND.
Friday, Feb. 17. The live stock market is little altered. Fat wethers may be quoted at 12s 6d to 15a 6d; lambs, 7s to 10s. Store sheep enquired for. At the Rodney election, Farnell polled 190; Shepherd, 115. The correct majority of M'Leod over Carleton, for the Bay of Islands, is 68. The native recently wounded at Pirongia was Tamati Tokiana, one of the murderers of Armitage in 1863.
Waata Taki has broken into the Mission House at Aotea, and allowed the removal of the Rev Mr Schnackenburg's books. The inquest on the City of Auckland fire has resulted in an open verdict.
Considerable excitement exists in the share market, but it is scarcely warranted.
