Another early settler has passed away in a ripe old age. Charles Hunt, who arrived in the Colony by the Adelaide Baker, in 1840, died at the Hutt the day before yesterday, aged 83. Deceased had resided at the Hutt ever since his arrival, and was much respected by all who were acquainted with him. —Evening Pust, February 15. We learn fv:>m the Otago Daily Times that the Otago Meat Preserving Company will be ready to start operations in a fortnight. The factory at Green Island is adapted, when in full working order, for the consumption of 2,000 sheep per week, or of cattle in proportion.
