AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET.

(Reports to February 10.)

[MESSRS. HUNTER AND NOLAN.]

HOBSES : There has been great activity in the market, and a considerable number have been placed. About an average number offered at auction, nearly all of which were sold ; and although in some instances higher values were obtained, upon the whole there was no material alteration in value—the stock being of medium and inferior quality—hacks selling at from £4 7s 6d to £lO 15s; inferior draught, from £ll to £l9.

Cattle : The market for store stock has much improved, and dairy cows in better request. Fat beasts have receded a shade in value. There was an average amount of stock penned at our yards on Tuesday : the bidding for both dairy cows and stores was more spiriten than for some time past. The bidding for fat beasts was slow, and sales difficult to effect, with great fluctuation in value, ranging from 23s to 275; dairy cows sold from £7 12s 6d to £lO ss; two-year-old heifers, £5 to £5 15s; yearlings, from £3 to £3 ss; weaned calves, 208 to 40s each.

Sheep are in short supply, with an upward tendency in price. Half-breds, from 13s 9d to 16s 3d; lamb.", from 7s 6i to 14s 3d. Pigs continue unequal to requirements, and in good demand at full rates.
