European Telegrams via Suez were due in Melbourne on Tuesday last, and the mail itself today. As a steamer for New Zealand was expected to leave yesterday, we may look for telegraphic intelligence about Monday next.
Fruit.—A sale of the above by Routledge, Kennedy and Co. at 11 o'clock to-morrow morning.
Electoral.— Town electors would 4o well to bear in mind that the nomination of candidates for the Provincial Council will take place this day week.
The s.s. Lord Ashley, with the English Mail via San Francisco on board, may be expected to arrive from Tauranga and Auckland.to-morrow, and will meet with prompt despatch for Wellington and Southern Ports.
The s.s. Rangatira is expected to leave Wellington for this port on the 18th inst, returning on the 20th. She will again arrive here on or about the 25th inst.
Mr Macandrew has been elected for Punedin, defeating his opponent, Mr jago. Some little confusion is apparent in the numbers given by our telegraphic correspondents at Dunedin and Port Chalmers, but this is a matter of minor importance, as it does not affect the WSfottt
