AUCKLAND.
Friday, Feb 10. The "Waikato elections have resulted as follows :—McPherson, 163; Kirk wood, 81. The Rag Jan return has not yet been received, but it will probably be in favor of McPherson.
A special telegram from Alexandra states that Whitiora, with 30 armed natives, have held a meeting at Paratene, now Whareraurekau, live miles from Alexandra, having visited Tapihana on their way. Tapihana was defiant and danced the war dance. Whitiora's companions from Orahia say that Tapihana's movement must be stopped. This intelligence is authentic. Barton and party have returned. Whitiora said that neither he nor Todd's murderers would be taken alive. He did not agree with Tapihana's work, and had ordered him to leave Kawhia. Tapihana consented. As soon as the Pakeha shall have heard that Tapihana has returned from Kawhia they may consider themselves safe ; until that time they must be on their guard. Tapihana had left 50 men at Pakanui.
