AUCKLAND.
Wednesday, Feb. 8. The Queen Bee has arrived from London with 60 passengers. The Phoebe and Emerald have also arrived from Lyttelton.
The East Coast elections have commenced. Mackay, Skeet, and Kelly were nominated. The show of hands was in favor of Skeet. A poll was demanded.
The election for the Waitemata district took place to-day. T. Henderson and Captain Freer were candidates, and the poll resulted in the return of the former by a large majority. An inquest was held to-day on the late tire by v-hich the kerosine store was destroyed. A verdict was returned of incendiarism by persons unknown. Five thousand rations were issued to destitute persons during last month,
