Messes. Routledge, Kennedy & Co. held a sale of Poverty Bay fruit at their auction room, Tennyson-street, this afternoon. There was a good attendance, aud all the fruit was disposed of. Apples fetched from 2d to 2£d per lb.; aud plums from 4Jd to s£d.

Horses : There has been a marked improvement in the market during the past week, both as regards prices and demand. An average number offered on Saturday, at auction, and nearly all were sold. Grood hacks and upstanding young horses are sought after, while draught stock are more saleable. We quote hacks from £5 to £lO 10s; harness horses, from £lO to £2O.

Cattle: There has been renewed vitality in the market, with tho exception of calves and ore-year olds. Store steers have shown a marked improvement, with an upward tendency for well-bred animals in fresh condition. Dairy cows continue scarce ; those offering being of inferior description meet with slow demand. Fat beasts were in moderate supply, and sales at current rates were easier to effect. Dairy cows sold from £8 2s Gd to £9; calves (weaned) from 21s to 355; twoyear old heifers and steers, from £-1 10.3 to £6 2s 61; three-old steers, from £6* 10s to £7 2s 6d ; beef, 28s to 30s per lOOlbs.—At the Papakura sale ou Wednesday there wad a good muster of stock, and an advance on Newmarket prices realised. Sheep : There was a fair muster; prices firm, with, an upward tendency for best pens. Lambs have improved in value, and are still inqubed after. Halfbreds, from 12s 3d to IGa Gd ; lambs (fat) from 8s to 10s ; lambs (store) from 4s to 6s 6d each. Pigs: Short of requirements; selling readily at 4cl per lb.
