Hawke's Bay Times. Nullius addictus jurare in verba magistri. WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 1871.
Resident Magistrate's Court.— Yesterday afternoon, in the case of Pangopango v. Towgood, judgment was given for the plaintiff, without costs.— No cases this morning. The monthly inspection parade of the Napier .Rifle Volunteers will take place at 6 o'clock this evening. The firing for the Napier Eifle Club Challenge Cup took place this morning. The weather was anything but favorable—a fresh S.W. breeze prevailing, with showers of rain. There were 20 competitors, and the firing, considering the weather, may be considered to have been passable. The winner of the Cup proved to be Mr J. H. Stubbs, with a score of 44 points ; Mr John Chicken, second, 40 points; and Mr R. Carter, third, 38 points.
