The brigantine Flirt, Capfc. D. H. M'Xenzio, from Auckland, bound to Ly Melton, with a cargo of timber, put in to this port yesterday afternoon to repair some slight damage to her topsail yard. She left Auckland on the Slot ult., and had northerly winds to the East Cape; from thence variable winds and very changeable weather. She resumed her voyage this morning. Wo believe the Flirt brought some Auckland paper? of late dates, but we were unable to obtain any.
The schooner Hero, Campbell, master, arrived in harbor last evening, from Wairoa and Waikokopu, bringing a cargo of wool, maize, bacon, &c. Her prolonged absence has been caused by the prevalence of southerly weather, and the consequent necessity of having had to seek shelter at Long Point. Saw "nothing of the Mary Ann Hudson, ketch, from this port to Wairoa, where she probably is at present.
The barque Santiago, from Auckland to this port, is reported as having been seen off Table Cape on Friday evening. A " ship or barque" has been signalled for some hours, which will doubtless prove to bo the Santiago.
The schooner Onehunga, which vessel's name has for some time past figured in our "expected arrivals" list, is now we learn trading on the West Coast. The Auckland papers must have erroneously stated her destination at the time of her departure from that port.
The three-masted schooner Ocean Wave, stranded at Mercury Bay some time ago, has had her repairs completed at Auckland, and was to have sailed for this port on Wednesday last.
The schooner Crest of the Wave sailed for Wellington on Saturday evening with a cargo of wool, flax, and skins. The s.s. Lord Ashley, we are informed, may be expected to arrive from Wellington and Southern Ports on or about Wednesday. The Bev. G-. Morice, will probably be a passenger by this opportunity. The s.s. Napier steamed for Poverty Bay yia Mania this eveuing.
