DUNEDIN.
Saturday, Feb. 4. The Oamaru election resulted as follows : —Steward, 187; Macassey, 136. For Taieri the result is :—Reid, 197; Tolmie, 125. The midwife Waterhouse has been acquitted. The Archbishop of Canterbury's opinion is that Bishop Jenner has an equitable right to the Bishopric of Dunedin, which he considers a court of law would establish. This decision has been concurred in by the Bishops of Ely, London, Winchester, Carlisle, and Hereford. Bishop Jenner will continue to claim the See, and has intimated his intention of fighting out the contest to the end. Archdeacon Maunsell's motion that the Synod refuses its sanction to the appointment comes on for consideration on Wednesday.
