The schooner Meteor, Captain Trimmer, from Auckland via the coast, arrived in the roadstead this afternoon, bringing 6.0 tons of firewood and a quantity of general cargo. The s.s. Napier steamed for Wairoa at a late hour last night, and may be expected to return to port to-night.

It will be seen from pur telegraphic column that the barque Santiago, from Auckland, is now on her way to Napier. The s.s. Lord Ashley, hence at 11 a.m. yesr terday, arrived at Wellington at 7 o'clock this morning, after a favorable run of 20 hours. The Rangatjra, for this port, had not been telegraphed as having left Wellington up to fche time we went to press. We are glad to learn that the Star of the South will, in all probability, be ready for sea about the middle ot next week. Since she was towed into the Iron Pot, a large number of b.ands have been constantly at work refitting her, and there can be no doubt operations have been rapidly pushed forward. The boilers were tested last night, and found satisfactory. Steam will, we believe, be got up on Saturday evening tp try the engines, and the rigging and other work will, it is supposed, be completed, and the vessel ready for sailing, about the time mentioned above.

The ketch Mary Anu Hudson is again on the berth for Wairoa, and will probably get away on Monday next. The Auckland Annual .Regatta is fixed for Monday next, 30th inst., that being the 31sfc anniversary of the Colony.
