Saturday, Jan, 21. Scarlatina, arising from unfumigated boxes ex Kobert Henderson, has broken out, and causes some alarm. There are three cases in the hospital. Mr Ross, of the Survey Department, opposes Mr Driver for Roslyn. At the Queenstown nomination Mr Shepherd and Mr Haughton were proposed. The show of hands was in favor of the ionner. A very keen contest is anticipated. Mr Stafford has been returned for Timaru without opposition. The following is the state of the poll for the City :—Bathgate, 694 ; Reynolds, 692 ; Macassey, 540. Mr Bathgate's strong Protection views secured him the votes of all the working class.
