Rifle Match.—The following are the scores made at the rifle match between eleven Rifle Volunteers and eleven men of other companies, the result of which we reported yesterday ; KIIXE VOLUNTEERS.
—The dinner came off in the Council Chamber last night, and was a great success.
The Rifle Cadets were to parade at 5 o'clock this eventing, opposite the Masonic Hall. Journalistic. —With the new year the Weekly Herald has reduced the size of its sheet to that of the Australasian, or its contemporary the Weekly News, without, however, diminishing the amount of reading matter. We consider this a great improvement. Resident Magistrate's Court. — This morning a single civil case came before the court— Gowing v. Bodaan, a claim of £8 for goods supplied. The debt was acknowledged by the defendant, who said he had not the money to pay it. Judgment given for the amount claimed, to be paid in four monthly instalments of £2 each.
