After the heavy rain reported in our last two issues, we are glad to report that line weather has again set in. Rifle Match.—The rifle contest between eleven men of the Napier Rifle Volunteers and eleven others selected from the Militia, the Volunteer Artillery, and the Yeomary Cavalry, came off at the Rifle Club range this forenoon, and resulted in the Rifles being beaten by 11 points. The ranges were 400, 500, and 600 yards; 5 shot* at each range. The match was a very close one throughout. The top score was made by Mr j. M. Wood (Militia), who made 52 points, being, we believe, the highest number yet made in the Province. The match, as previously stated, was for a dinner, which comes off this evening in the Council Chamber.
