About 25 miles of bush requires to be felled \ chain wide, and a roadway cleared and stumped of 20 feet. The Work will be let in contracts of 2 to 3 miles as hereinafter described, viz. :- No. I.—From the entrance of the Manawatu Bush, at Takapau, to the Makotoku stream, about 2J miles No, 2.—From Makotoku stream tq Mangatewai-iti, about 2 miles No. 3.—bVoin Mangatewai iti to y.*r ngatera, about 2£ miles No. 4-—From Mangatera to Tahoralti, about 3 miles No. s. —b'lom Tahoraiti to Matahiwi, about 1| miles No, 6.—From Matahiwi towards tha Manawatu Gorge, 2 miles more or less No. 7.—2 miles more or less from, No. 6 contract towards Mana* watu Gorge No. 8.—2 miles more or less from No. 7 contract towards Manawatu Gorge No. 9.—2 miles more or less from.
