About 25 miles of bush requires to be felled 1 chain wide, and a roadway cleared and stumped of 20 feet. The Work will be let in contracts of 2 to 3 miles as here inafter described, viz. :—- No I.—Fiom the entrance of the Manawatu Bush, at Takapau, to the Makotoku stream, about 2| miles No. 2.—From Makotoku stream to Mangatewai-iti, about 2 miles ;No. 3,—From Mangatewai iti to Mangatera, about 2 \ miles IsTo, 4. —From Mangatera to Tahoraiti, about 3 miles ISTo. s.—From Tahoraiti to Matahiwi, about 1J miles No. 6.—From Matahiwi towards the Manawatu Gorge, 2 miles more or less ]s o# 7.—2 miles more or less from No. 6 contract towards Manawatu Gorge No. 8. —2 miles more or less from No. 7 contract towards Mana watu Gorge £[ o# 9.—2 miles more or les& from No. 8 contiacb Exact limits of Contracts Nos. 6 and 9 inclusive will be lixed after survey.
