About 25 miles of bush requires to be felled 1 chain wide, and a roadway cleared and stumped of 20 feet. The Work will be let in contracts of 2 to 3 miles as here inafter described, viz.: No. 1. —From the entrance of the Manawatu Bush, at Takapau, "to the Makotokii stream, about 2J miles No. 2. —From Makotoku stream to Mangatewaiiti, about 2 miles No. 3.—From Mangatewai iti to Mangatera, about 2 \ miles iq" 0 _ 4._ From Mangatera to Tahoraifi, about 3 miles No. s.—Fiorn Tahoraiti to Matahiwi, about miles No. 6.—From Matahiwi towards the Manawatu Gorge, 2 miles more or less No. 7. —2 miles more or less from JS T o. .6 contract towards Manawatu Gorge No. B. 2 miles more or less from No. 7 contract towards Mana watu Gorge No. 9.—2 miies more or from No. 8 contiact Exact limits of Contracts Nos. 6 and 9 inclusive will be fixed after survey.
