Private Gray (No. 1 W.R.V.), and Ensign Gillon (W.M.), will represent the Wellington district at the annual colonial match at Auckland,—their respective scores being 42 and 40. Thirty three of the Armed Constabulary Force proceeded North by the Phoebe from Wellington on Saturday last. The Wellington Independent, 17th December, says : —By a telegram received yesterday morning we learn that a man named William Anderson was found dead in the yard of the Commercial Hotel, Wanganui. An inquest was to be held on view of the body yesterday afternoon. The hon. the Pieraier and Mrs Fox returned to Wellington in the Wanganui, from Wanganui, on the 16th inst. The Independent regrets to say that Mr Fox is still in a very weak condition, A Constitutional Reform Association has been formed in Wellington, having for its object the doing away with "the M evils of Provincialism." The Evening Post says that the members of the new society are already numerous, and daily increasing. The following paragraph appears in the Evening Post, December 17,: —We hear that Mr Yogel has determined on taking a trip to California for the good of his health, at the expense of the Colony, although nominally be goes to complete the arrangements in reference to the San Francisco mail contract. ; Whether he intends to extend his journey as far as Europe, we gxe not aware, but it is very likejy if he can at all see his way to carrying out his idea of negotiating the great loan in England. He sails, as we are informed,, on the 3rd of February.
