About 25 miles of bush requires to be felled 1 chain wide, and a roadway cleared and stumped of 20 feet. The Work will be let in contracts of 2 to 3 miles as here inafter described, viz. :■ • No. I.—Fxom the entrance of the Manawatu Bush, at Takapau, to the Makotoku stream, about miles No. 2.—From Makotoku stream to Mangatewai-iti, about 2 miles No. 3.—b'rom Mangatewai iti to iViangatera, about miles No. 4.—From Mangatera to Tahoraiti, about 3 miles No. s.—From Tahoraiti to Matahiwi, about 1J miles No, 6.—From Matahiwi towards the Manawatu Gorge, 2 miles mora or less No. 7. —2 miles more or less from No. 6 contract towards Manawatu Gorge No. 8.—2 miles more or less from No. 7 contract towards Mana watu Gorge No. 9. —2 miles more or less from No. 8 contiact Exact limits of Contracts Nos. 6 and 9 inclusive will be fixed after survey.
