AUCKLAND.
Monday, Dec. 12. We congratulate you on* the opening of the telegraph line to Tauranga. Medical evidence shows no cases of Asiatic cholera in Auckland. Waikato advices report the King natives quiet, but armed. A quarrel has arisen between the chiefs Moananui and Te Hira. Their followers are armed, and a fight is imminent. H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh has arrived, and leaves to-night in the p.s. Luna on a visit to Rotomahana. The Governor and suite accompany him. Herr Bandmann gave a reading on Saturday night under the patronage of Prince Alfred. The new steamer Napier has made a successful trial trip. The ships Timaru and City of Auckland, from London, have both arrived. The former vessel on her passage came across the burning wreck of the ship Matador, 1,600 miles from the Cape of Good Hope," and 1,600 miles from St. Helena : saw no nisni of the crew.—The City brought over 120 passengers, including 5 Wesleyan ministers.
