DUNEDIN.
Friday, Dec. 9. Mr. Vogel met the electors last night in the Theatre, which was crowded to suffocation, there being fully 2000 people present. For the first half hour the greatest uproar prevailed. The majority would only hear Mr Grant, who was twice forcibly removed— once by the police—but returned. Shortly after 6 o'clock Mr Vogel commenced to speak, but for ten minutes he could not be heard at all. When tiny thing like silence was restored he had only halfan hour left to speak. He said that the charges brought by the Otago Daily Times against the Government re telegrams were the purest fabrications. The puiser of the steamer Gothenburg was the personal friend of Mr George, of the Melbourne Argus, and obtained from him the news contained in a third edition of that journal, which, on arrival at the Bluff, he gave to the telegraph operator there to be transmitted to Wellington. He paid the Government had received more favorable assurances of the English ability to raise loans, and that the money was forthcoming. Even now the Government were prepared to carry out works. No questions were asked. There was a strong party present to prevent him .shaking, and great dissatisfaction at the result is loudly expressed by evexy well-thinking person. Mr Vogel has promised, if time permits, to deliver another address.
