The English Mail via Suez may be pxpected to arrive here per Rangatira to-morrow. Messrs. Routledge, Kennedy & Co. ■flrjli sell by public auction, on Monday next, sth inst., at 11 a.in , a large quantity of plothing, drapery, 4c, Resident Magistrate's Court.— This morning the Resident Magistrate gave his decision in the case Raymond v. Chat les. He remarked that the question of responsibility in this case was a yery nice legal point, and the authorities he had consulted were pretty evenly balanced pro and con. —Judgment for amount claimed (£ll ss) without costs. —Defendant, inquired if he could appeal, to which his Worship replied that \i was qutie competent for him to do so, and that the case was a very fitting one for an appeal.
