About '25 miles of bush requires to be felled 1 chain wide, and a roadway cleared and stumped of 20 feet. The Work will be let in contracts of 2 to 3 miles as here inafter described, viz. : No. I.—Fiom the entrance of the Manawatu Bush, at Takapau, to the Makofcoku stream, about 2^ miles No, 2.—From Makotoku stream to Mangatewai-iti, about 2 miles No. 3. —From Mangatewai iti to Mangatei"a, about 2£ miles No. |, —From Mangatera to Taboraiti, about 3 miles No. s.—Fiom Tahoraiti to Marahiwi, about 1£ miles No 6.—From Matahiwi towards the Manawatu Gorge, % miles moi'e or less No. 7.-2 miles more or less from No. .6 contract towards Manawatu Gorge No. 8.—2 miles more or less from JSo. 7 contract towards.
