The number oifered has been, numerically larger than for some "weeks, and prices advanced for most descriptions, more particularly for medium draught. On Saturday, at auction, bidding was slow at the commence* ment, but improved as the sale proceeded, and an unusually large numher were disposed of. Dairy cows of inferior breeds sold from £7 15s to £lO 15s, with fair competition. Store stock nominal. tone of the cattle market on Thursday last. Although prices were not much higher, there was a fuller attendance of buyers, and bidding was more spirited.. Dairy cows improved in value fully 10s per head. Quiet heifers were at better values. Yearling steeps obtained no improvement in price ; they brought from £2 J2s 6d to £3 ss/ eaoh. Grown steers were in good enquiry and an advance was obtained on their previous values of fully 10s per head. The working oxen brought £l2 10s each, with dray and yokes given in. Several pens realised between £7 and £3 each. Fat cattle were in moderate numbers and of small size—s 7 sold. 4- slight advance on last week's quotations was obtained ; prices varied between 27s and 30s the lOOlbs. Fat sheep were in less than usual numbers, and short of requirements; at opening of the sale prices were fully 2s per head above last week's market, and at the close were 6s per head higher. Lambs were in full supply; last week's advance was sustained, but there wag no further improvement—22 sold.
