About 25 miles of bush requires to be felled 1 chain wide, and a roadway cleared and stumped of 20 feet. The Worjc will be let in contracts of 2 to 3 miles as hereinafter described, viz. : No. I.—From the entrance of the JUanawatu Bush, at Takapau, to the Makotoku stream, about 2J miles No. 2.—Fi-om Makotoku stream to Mangatewai-iti, about 2 miles , No. 3.—From Mangatewai iti to Mangatera, about 2J miles No. 4.—From Mangatera to Taho* raiti, about 3 miles No, s.—From Tahoraiti to Matahiwi, about 1£ miles No, 6.—From Matahiwi towards the Manawatu Gorge, 2 miles more or less No. 7.—2 miles more or less from No. 6 contract towards Manawatu Gorge No. 8.—2 miles more or less from No. 7 contract towards Manawatu Goige No. 9.—2 miles more or less from No. 8 conti act Exact limits of Contracts Nos. 6 and 9 inclusive will be fixed after survey. Tenders to state distinctly the portion of the line, as described by number, for which the tender is intended. Tenders to state the rate at per chain. Specifications can be ?een, from and after the Ist December proximo, at the Government Agent's office, Napier; Mr Rathbone's, Waipawa; and Mr Drower's, Waipukuiau.
