About 25 miles of bush requires to be felled 1 chain wide, and a roadway cleared and stumped of 20 feet. The Work will be let i l contracts of 2 to 3 miles as hereinafter described, viz. : - r ]So. I.—Fiom the eutrauce of the Manawatu Bush, at Takapau, to the Makotoku stream, about 2| miles No. 2.—From Makotoku stream to Mangatewai-iti, about 2 miles ]sf o< 3.—From Mangatewai iti to Mangatera, about miles No. 4.—From Mangatera to Tahoraiti, about 3 miles No. 5. From Tahoraiti to Matahiwi, about miles No 6.—From Matahiwi towards the Manawatu Gorge, 2 miles more or less N O . 7.-2 miles more or less from No. 6 contract towards Manawatu Gorge No. 8.—2 miles more or less from ]S r o. 7 contract towards Manawatu Gorge No. 9.-2 miles more or lest> from No. 8 contract Exact limits of Contracts Nos. 6 and 9 inclusive will be iixed after survey. Tenders to state distinctly tiie portion of the line, as described by number, for which the tender is intended. Tenders to state the rate at per chain. Specifications can be seen, from and after the Ist December proximo, at the Government Agent's olEce, Napier; Mr Rath bones, Waipawa; and Mr Drower's, Waipukuiau.
