The Work will be let in contracts of 2 to 3 miles as hereinafter described, viz. : No. 1.-—Fiom the entrance of the Manawatu Bush, at Takapau, to the Makotoku stream, aboiii 2J miles No. 2.—From Makotoku stream to Mangatewai-iti, about 2 miles No. 3.—From Mangatewai iti to Mangatera, about 2\ miles No. 4.—From Mangatera to Tahoraiti, about 3 miles jfo. s.—From Tahoraiti to Matahiwi, about 1A miles No 6.—From Matahiwi towards the Manawatu Gorge, 2 miles more or less so. 7.-2 miles more or less from No. 6 contract towards Manawatu Gorge No. 8.—2 miles more or less from No. 7 contract towards Manajjj watu Gorge No. 9.—2 miles more or less from No. 8 conti act Exact limits of Contracts Nos. 6 and 9 inclusive will be fixed after survey.
