(Report to October 28.)
[CARBX, SII.LES, HUNTER AN© CO.
Herat's: There has been a good muater of horses, and a little more spirit amongst purchasers. Good upstanding and draught horses are in request; at auction the number brought forward and disposed of was above the overage, and prices generally satisfactory to vendors. We sold hacks from £7 to £l3; light harneea and light draught, from £ls to £23 15s each. Cattle: Stores have not offered so freely as of late, nor has there been much increase in the number of dairy cows ; fat beasts were quite equal to requirements, with little alteration in value for best sorts, but second class receded a little; we quote 30s to 32e per lOOfts. Dairy cow* sold from £8 2s 6d to £lO ; calves from £2 to £3Y yearlings from £3 10s to £3 17s 6d; one-and-a-half and two-year-old steers, from £6 10s to £7 each. Sheep were penned in considerable numbers, but prices were difficult to sustain ; half-breds sold from 10s to 14s 9d ; lamba, from &9 6d to 14s each. Pigs in short supply, prices unaltered.
