Captain Mailler, of the Magellan Cloud who arrived on Wednesday evening from the Fijis, has called attention to the absence of any provision for affording Strang -rs visiting the port some pilotage assistance. The danger of running aground, or sustaining other injury, is increased by the absence of these fdcililtes, and the trade of the port U consequently retarded. —Southern Cruss. A sad picture of the desolation of war is given by a correspondent of the Times who visited liudeltz, the place where the French made their last stand after the battle of flagtnau: —The houses were shut up. A few women, children, and old men haunted the doors of these shattered dwellings. One village restaurant was a specimen of all. "We have nothing," said the old man ; "no bread, no wine, no meat, no corn. All is gone. Gwl help us!" He said that the French drew tin* plug out of the casks when they had drunk enough, to prevent the Prussians in pursuit refreshing themselves. The Derry Journal gives the following sketch of the proceedings in that city on the occasion of a demonstration iu favour of the French :—A' wilder or more unfortunate day of party rioting was nerer seen in Derry. Hundreds of people must have been more or loss injured, as stones were flung about in all directions; men were beaten with bludgeons, thrown down and kicked, and a number of hand-to-hand encounters took place, of the most riotous character.
