Friday, Nov. 4. Mr, Fox addressed his constituents at Marton on Wednesday. He reviewed the principal business of the last session of the Assembly, and claimed for the Government that it had established peace which was not likely to be disturbed. He looked for the best results from immigration and public works, which would reoiove the existing de pression; and warmly eulogised the people of the South Island, who had behaved to the North *■* like brothers." Mr Fox was well received, and a vote of confidence in him carried unanimously. Topia has returned ftom the Waikato, and brings news that the leading chiefs of Wriikato and Manaipoto have consented to attend the conference of the 25th December at Aomaomu, near Pipiriki. The Princess Sophia and Rewf will represent the I£ing. Topia says that the above tribes are favorable to peace, and desire to establish most friendly relations with the Pakeha, A little boy named Signal is missing. He is supposed to have fallen into the river and been drowned,
