The clipper brigantine Flirt, Oapt. D. H |£cKenzie, arrived in the roadstead at six o'clock this morning, bringing the following cargo :—33,000 feet timber, 27,000 shingles, and 74 terns flrewoorl, consigned to Mr J. Le Quesne. Oapt. McKenzie reports as follows p'f his passage !—Left Auckland on Tuesday, 18th ins.t, and arrived at Mercury Bay on the following day. Sbißped 28.000 feet timber, and sailed on Saturday, 22nd inst. Had light fail? winds across the Bay of Plenty, and founded the East Cape at 8 p.m. on the 23rd, when the wind chopped to S. and S.S.E , and continued until the afternoon of the 25th, when a northerly breeze sprung up, and continued until passing Portland Island at 9 a.m. yesterday. Light variable winds from thence until arrival here as :ibove. Beporte speaking the schooner Saucy Lass last night, bound £Prth, The ss. Rangatira, Oapt. Benner, left Napier at 1.30 p.m. on Friday last, but did not reach Wellington until 9. p.m. on Sunday, having experienced very bad weather on the passage, which compelled her to seek shelter at White Kock for 24 hours. Left Wellington again at 3.3,5 p.m. yesterday, and arrived in the roadstead at 3 o'clock this afternoon. We learn that #2QO. has been received from the Government towards the construction, of the gunboat now being built for the Naval brigade of Ota,go.
