The Thames Advertiser, October 10, says that, information having reached the Government that a party of Hauhaus, who arrived in Shortland from the Piako about the beginning of last week, were arranging to take back with them a quantity of arms and am munition, a raid was made upon them about six o'clock on Saturday evening by a small party of Armed Constabulary, consisting of Inspector Thomson, Sub-Inspector Bullen, and Sergeant Llojd, who were accompanied by the Government Interpreter, Mr J. C. Young. Eventually the officers were reluctantly compelled to give up the search, doubtless much disgusted with its result.
