The s.s. Keera leaves for Auckland at 10 a.m. on Monday next.

JFine Weather would appear to lnu c again set in. The rain that has fallen will be productive of much good.

The Goidmining and Prospecting Company.—A correspondent writes to us as follows : —" Sir,-—As summer is now advancing with rapid strides, I would desire, through the medium of your columns, to suggest that a meeting of shareholders of the now almost forgotten " Hawke's Bay Goldmining and Prospecting Company" be called in order to ascertain how much of the money already paid up is still left., and to take into consideration whether it would still he advisable to pursue the search for the precious metal in this Province. Believing that the step I have suggested would, if acted upon, be acceptable to most of the shareholders. I am, &c, A Shareholder."

In our yesterday's issue we mentioned the receipt of an Auckland telegram via Nelson as we wen I to press. "Xhis telegram was presented at ISlelson at 2.55 p.m., and, owing, we suppose, to the wire being otherwise engager], did not reach us till 4.42 p.m. The Keera this morning brings us a duplicate copy from our agents in Auckland, in addition to our usual files, our message yesterday being thus rendered useless. It is unfortunate that delay of this kind should occur in the transmission oi press messages, much disappointment being thus caused both to newspaper proprietors and the public.—A later telegram, received to-day via Wanganui, contains several important items not contained m the papers to hand.
