A Sydney telegram of a late date says that the barque Fruiterer, from Newcastle to New Caledonia, struck on a reef off the coast, and has been completely wrecked; twenty four persons were drowned. We find the following in the Evening Post, of the sth inst.:—Captain Yule, of the Heversham, reports that on his last voyage to Newcastle in the Annie Melhuish, while he was about 240 miles from Newcastle, during a heavy thunderstorm, a ball of electric fluid exploded pn the quarter-deck, passed over the ship's side, partiy stripped off a sheet of copper, slightly splintering; the plank and scorciiing the bulwarks. The fire ball left a strong sulphureous smell behind it.
