The ketch Why Not took her departure for Wairoa last night. The 8.8. Eangatira may be expected to arrive here from Wellington this day week. The schooner Muriwai leaves for Poverty .Bay to-night, with cargo as per exoorts. The ketch Eagle will leave for Poverty Bay parly to-morrow morning. The ship Electra left London for Welling ton on the 16th July. A Sydney telegram of a late date says that the barque Fruiterer, from Newcastle to New Caledonia, struck on a reef off the coast, and has been completely wrecked; twenty four persons were drowned. We find the following in the Evening Post, of the sth inst.:—Captain Yule, of the Heversham, reports that on his last voyage to Newcastle in the Annie Melhuish, while he was about 240 miles from Newcastle, during a heavy thunderstorm, a ball of electric fluid exploded pn the quarter-deck, passed over the ship's side, partiy stripped off a sheet of copper, slightly splintering; the plank and scorciiing the bulwarks. The fire ball left a strong sulphureous smell behind it.
